Heliski Romania

Float over beautifully snow-capped mountain peaks and then indroppen on a fresh pack of powder snow, which is heliski Romania. Using a Eurocopter AS350 B3 Ecureuil helicopter we enter completely remote areas. It is a unique experience where you enjoy both a sensational bird's eye view on the mountain range as of the kick to drop in first on the remotest mountainsides.

In addition you really don't have to be an expert to heliski. If you are a confident snowboarder or skier and red and black runs are not a problem, then all you need is a healthy appetite for powder needed to participate in this trip! Through the various route options so is this trip suitable for both the experienced freerider as for the winter athlete who is ready for his or her first off-piste experience.

We experience this adventure in the Tarcu Mountains, in the Western part of the Transylvanian Alps. This southwestern terminus of the arc of the Carpathians forms a well-kept heliski secret where every freerider can have fun. Virgin slopes, a wide range of descents with vertical drops up to 800m and this in the snowiest area in Romania, what more could you want?

2 Travel formulas "Heliski Romania"

1) Heliski "Standard"

Heliski formula with stay in a cozy Romanian Pension equipped with all the necessary comforts. This formula consists of: 1 travel day out, 4 days on site including 2 heliski days and 2 weather days (when you can go freeriding and/or tour skiing/split boarding and/or do avalanche safety drills in the area with a guide), and 1 travel day back.

2) Heliski "De Luxe"

Heliski formula with stay in a desolate, comfortable, rustic private log cabin in the middle of nowhere. The log cabin is equipped with a jacuzzi and sauna and is accessible only by helicopter. This formula consists of: 1 travel day out, 4 days on site including 2 heliski days and 2 weather days (when you can go tour skiing/split boarding and/or do avalanche safety drills in the surrounding area with a guide), and 1 travel day back.

CIA

Comfort 80%: You will sleep in a cozy Romanian Pension, or in the desolate log cabin, equipped with all the necessary comforts and a local moe and va to make you fully enjoy your stay.

Intensity 70%: You will participate in an active trip that requires a basic level of fitness. This means that you will exercise about once a week and generally be active.

Adventure 80%: From a certain base of operations, explore pristine areas and use nature as your playground.

Heliski Romania

Day 1: Arrival

In the airport of Timisoara you will be met by the crew of Heliski Romania. They will then take you to our base of operations in the ski area of Muntele Mic (ca. 150 km verderop) waar we verblijven in een comfortabel pension of in de desolate blokhut (heliski de luxe). Eens aangekomen volgt een first acquaintance and everyone can feel install quietly.

Day 2 tem 5: two heliski days and two weatherdays

Depending on the weather, you have two days On which we go heliskiing and 2 days that we use as weatherdays. The heliski package consists of 6000 altimeters that you can use. Spread over 2 days, this amounts to 6 to 7 fly & drops per day. After a day full of adrenaline and the fattest runs, we always conclude pleasantly with delicious meals and a toast to this summit trip.

On the two weatherdays we either go freeriding, either tour skiing/split boarding or we do avalanche safety drills. Dit afhankelijk van jullie verblijf, wensen en voorkeuren.

Day 6: Departure

We say goodbye, leave the Heliski Romania adventure behind and take the plane back home.

"Standard" formula: Romanian Pension

We are staying in a pleasant guest house in the Muntele Mic ski area. This is a super cozy something where everyone immediately feels at home. In part because of our local moe and va who pamper you every day. Every morning hiking we from here towards the ski elevator which gives us access to the area and after which we be able to ski/snowboard up to the helibase. The rooms consist of single and double beds.

"De Luxe" formula: Desolate log cabin

We are staying in a desolate, rustic log cabin at The Middle of Nowhere. This log cabin offers views of the surrounding mountains and valleys and features a sauna and indoor jaccuzi with a view! Moreover, she is accessible only by helicopter. Pick-up and Drop-off at the accommodation are therefore done by helicopter. The accommodation is completely private.

The bedroom layout looks like this:

Guides

Safety is our number one priority. The guides we work with must therefore meet our strict requirements. In Romania we work together with Heliski Romania, a local organization which consists of recognized and certified UIAGM (Union Internationale des Associations de Guides de Montagnes ) and AGMR (Romanian Mountain Guides Association)  guides. In other words, they have a extremely good knowledge of the area and the required expertise around avalanche safety.

Heliski Romania flies a modern Eurocopter AS350 B3 Ecureuil Helicopter. He is fast, safe, comfortable and is among the best helicopter types for this type of activity. Moreover, the helicopter is designed to perform missions on high altitude and in the most harsh weather conditions.

Safety Equipment

We provide a backpack with airbag, avalanche pager, shovel and probe. In addition, we also strongly recommend wearing a helmet.

Insurance

Finally, we require each participant to provide a Proof of purchase of travel insurance specifically for off-piste skiing and snowboarding for the entire period of the trip. An example is short-term travel insurance with winter sports/special winter sports coverage at Allianz or KBF. Call and email your insurer in advance, explain what you will be doing and make sure you have a good understanding of what all is covered and what the exceptions are! If required, we will advise you on how to properly obtain the necessary insurance.
