Catski Georgia

Catski Georgia takes you to Goderdzi in the Adjara region, or the Japan of Georgia. Because of its proximity to the Black Sea, here record snowfall every year. The winter season in the Goderdzi ski area is one of the longest in Georgia. It begins in early December and ends in late April. It is therefore one of the best ski and snowboard spots for freeriders. Forested mountains create fantastic scenery year-round! Deciduous trees provide beautiful treeruns and the idyllic village consists of countless (abandoned) mountain huts. Together with an experienced local guide you will step into the pistenbully in to go discover the best runs. There is nearly 8,000 acres of land available. This differs from mellow treeruns to flanks of more than 40 degrees. In the morning we will decide where to go based on snow conditions. Assume you will be on a hello minimum 7-10 runs can do with 3000-5000 altimeters.

During Catski Georgia we stay in the luxurious Ambassadori hotel, a beautiful hotel that was supposed to be the icing on the cake of a prestigious ski resort. Because the roads leading to it were never completed and Goderdzi is therefore still difficult to reach (only by 4×4 and pistenbully), this village, and therefore the hotel, receives only a fraction of the number of visitors as for which it was originally intended. Ideal for us, then, lavish luxury as a base for pristine freeriding!

The area

The catski terrain for the catski Georgia is divided into 4 regions. We will usually 1 molars per day. To the east flank lie the highest peaks. These extend to 2600 meters altitude. We usually don't get below 1,700 meters. The north side is known for its many snow plains and the village of Beshumi. Here you sometimes ski between abandoned wooden huts by. In the south its steeper slopes and some cliff drops. In the west primarily tree runs with dense forests and some openings. Depending on weather conditions, we choose the best region for catskiing daily.

Catski Georgia

Dag 1: Vliegen naar Georgië

On the first day of catski Georgia fly we vanaf Amsterdam naar Tbilisi in Georgië, waar we in de late namiddag zullen toekomen. We rijden door naar ons hotel in Tbilisi, installeren ons en zetten nog een stapje in de wereld of genieten van wat welverdiende nachtrust.

Dag 2: Rijden naar Goderdzi

De volgende dag drive we move on to Goderdzi. This is about 4 to 5h drive. To break up this ride a bit we visit, among other things Uplistsikhe, a 3,000-year-old city made of cave dwellings carved into the slopes of the Mtkvari Valley, and Gori: the birthplace of Stalin. Het laatste stuk van de rit is per 4×4 en snowcat omwille van de slechte staat en het ontbreken van wegen naar Goderdzi. We zullen in de late namiddag toekomen in ons hotel in Goderdzi.

Dag 3 tem 7: Catski Georgië

For the next 5 days we fully enjoy a well-filled catski program in the beautiful Adjara region. Each day we look for the best descents after which we pump down to our magnificent hotel to obtain. In addition, we are going to 2x dining in a local brasserie to really get a taste of authentic Georgian cuisine. Retrieved from day 7 we leave after catskiing Goderdzi and drive we back to Tbilisi. En route dining we in Akhaltsikhe, a old castle town Before driving on to Tbilisi. Those who want to can take one more step into the world here as the end of the trip.

Day 8: Home

This last day we will be dropped off at the airport early in the morning and fly back home with a cartload of memories of this unforgettable catski Georgia adventure.

The 5-star Ambassadori Goderdzi Hotel is located right in the center of the Goderdzi ski resort - opposite the ski slopes and hiking trails. The hotel offers 122 comfortable and stylishly furnished rooms and suites. Magnificent views, and a first-class service create an unforgettable experience for our guests here! The hotel is located at 2027 meters above sea level and features its own wellness area with saunas, pool, massage room and terrace with panoramic views on the mountains.

Guests can enjoy dinner at the elegant restaurant, which serves selected local and European specialties. The in-house bar, club and lounges offer a wide selection of wines, cocktails and Georgian specialties. The hotel offers a free ski storage. If needed, guests can rent their ski equipment directly on site.

Guides

Safety is our number one priority. Therefore, the guides we work with have minimum 6 to 10 years of experience as a mountain guide, have the necessary local and international certifications, participate on a regular basis in safety courses and its seasoned freeriders. Each catski group will be accompanied by 1 gids.

Safety Equipment

In addition, we also provide each participant with the necessary safety equipment such as avalanche pager, shovel and probe and there is contact between guides and snowcat and have a good range that allows immediate assistance to be called in the event of any accident. Also, a airbag can be rented optionally.

Insurance

Finally, we require each participant to provide a Proof of purchase of travel insurance specifically for off-piste skiing and snowboarding for the entire period of the trip. An example is short-term travel insurance with winter sports/special winter sports coverage at Allianz or KBF. Call and email your insurer in advance, explain what you will be doing and make sure you have a good understanding of what all is covered and what the exceptions are! If required, we will advise you on finding the correct insurance.

Catski Georgia

This trip is suitable for every off-piste skier or snowboarder, ranging from average to experienced freeriders. Also, skiers and snowboarders who have a very good on-piste level have with limited off-piste experience, but with a healthy dose of perseverance and boldness are welcome on this trip.

Important prerequisites to participate in this trip are:

• You have a good on-piste level and gets off red slopes smoothly. Black slopes you can descend minimally slow but controlled.
• You have already some experience off-piste (next to and between the slopes)
• You have a good condition
• In terms of steepness, the backcountry terrain for this trip equals red runs
