Kilimanjaro Ascent
Kilimanjaro ascent is a breathtaking trek to the roof of Africa. The top of the highest single mountain in the world and the second highest volcano in the world. You traverse tropical rainforest & tundra and ends between snow and ice On a trek for which we went in search of the most original, and nicest route on one of the Seven Summits.
We climb Mt. Kilimanjaro during 7 days through our own compiled 360° route, a route consisting of a combination from Umbwe, Northern Circuit and Mweka. This route ensures that you have the Kilimanjaro and its diverse landscapes from all different perspectives can behold. We climb Kilimanjaro, in fact, from the Southern Umbwe route, after which we went through the West around the summit toward the North turn on the Northern Circuit. We then move on to pass through the East to the top to go. Finally, we descend again via the Southern Mweka route.
The colors and sound of the jungle which turn into mysterious steppe landscapes after which volcanic terrain takes over to then end in Arctic Alpine climate, make this route unique and wonderfully beautiful. Getting to know both the guides, porters if it cooking team, make this experience complete.
Benefits of this unique route:
- Full 360 experience of Kilimanjaro
- You go through all the biotopes and vegetation zones
- It is the perfect acclimatization route
- It is a unique route that we have put together ourselves experimentally, away from the crowd, and which is not done this way by anyone else

Kilimanjaro Ascent
The trip lasts a total of 9 days, including travel days you will be at a total of 11 days.
Day 1: Flight
On the first day we fly to Kilimanjaro airport (Tanzania) where we will not arrive until the next morning.
Day 2: Arrival Kilimanjaro airport
We arrive at Kilimanjaro airport, are picked up and to our hotel brought to Moshi. Here we can rest from the long flight, meet we our guides and we bring all in readiness for the ascent of Kilimanjaro.
Day 3: Kilimanjaro trekking day 1: Umbwe Gate - Umbwe Cave (1400m - 2520m)
We start our trek in the Jungle and immediately ascend 1200m to the first next camp. A beautiful journey to a hidden jungle camp. Along the way we have a chance to see mostly monkeys and ravens spotting. Once we arrive, we enjoy the sunset, a nice dinner and the soothing jungle sounds. The route is quiet and is hardly taken by anyone, which makes them all the more beautiful.
Day 4: Kilimanjaro trekking day 2: Umbwe Cave - Barranco (2520m - 3570m)
We leave Umbwe Cave and set a tough climb in to Barranco Camp. The route goes stepwise up and slowly the vegetation around us narrows. Once again we will almost exclusively be on this beautiful route, until when we Barranco ranges. Barranco is one of the largest campsites on Kilimanjaro and is on the popular Southern Circuit. So here you can experience the crowds and possibly socialize with other climbers on Kilimanjaro. From Barranco you have a nice view of the summit and Western Breach, one of the most infamous routes on Kilimanjaro.
Day 5: Kilimanjaro trekking day 3: Barranco - Moir Hut (3570m - 3400m)
We get up and where the giant human snake continues its journey through The Southern Circuit, we go against the current and we are virtually the only group walking the different direction direction Arrow Glaciar. Here we stop to lunch and to behold the Western Breach in all its glory. We then move on toward Moir Hut. A camp site located on the much quieter Northern Circuit which we spent the next few days in opposite direction will walk. Moreover, we first ascend only to descend again a bit, which is thus ideal for our acclimatization.
Day 6: Kilimanjaro trekking day 4: Moir Hut - Third Cave Camp (3400m - 3800m)
Having already climbed Kilimanjaro via the South, have taken a turn through the West flank, it is now time to climb Kilimanjaro from the North to behold. Today is a free long stage, but with little elevation gain. In fact, we are going all the way to Third Cave camp. Physical it is thus spicy, but also today is a ideal acclimatization day since we are virtually all the time on same level stay.
Day 7: Kilimanjaro trekking day 5: Third Cave Camp - Kibo Hut (3400m - 4700m)
Time to climb again. Today's hike is fairly short, but we take some altimeters. The free afternoon can be used to rest, acclimate and get some sleep before leaving for the summit the next night.
Day 8: Kilimanjaro trekking day 6: Kibo Hut - Summit - Millenium Camp (4700m - 5895m - 3810m)
At night we catch the climb to via the East, to the often snow and ice covered summit of Kilimanjaro. We walk the next 6 to 8h using our head/ flashlights. The climb to the edge of the crater is the most challenging of the entire Kilimanjaro climb. We step on a steep path, across the volcanic rock up to the crater rim from Gillman's Point, located at 5685 m. Stepping into the dark and the thin air make climbing heavy and oblige us regular to halt keep and on breath to arrive. Arriving at Gillman's Point, our efforts already rewarded with a beautiful view on the glacier and on the underlying plains set in a beautiful glow by the rising sun. After climb another 210 meters in easy terrain, we arrive at Uhuru Peak 5895m, the 'roof of Africa'. After this unique moment, the descent to Millenium Camp (3810m) where we overnight and where we can quietly reminisce about the moment when Africa was literally at our feet. In total today we will Between 12 and 2 p.m. walk.
Day 9: Kilimanjaro trekking day 7: Millenium Camp - Mweka Gate
We bulge out toward the Gate. After breakfast and a final view of Kilimanjaro's summit, we descend via the Southern Mweka route. The circle is at this around and we have been climbing Kilimanjaro from every corner can admire. Closing we do in a hotel in Moshi, Where we sound tired but fulfilled on a breathtaking adventure.
Day 10: Departure home
We are dropped off at the airport, check in and take our international flight back home with a backpack full of memories of the Kilimanjaro climb. Depending on the flights, we will meet the next morning to in Belgium.
Day 11: Back home
This morning we arrive in Belgium.
Notice: This is a very adventurous trip where we are dependent on weather conditions. Changes in the above program are therefore possible depending on local conditions.

With an area of over 14,000 km² the park is the second-largest national park in Tanzania. The Serengeti is known primarily because of "The Great Migration - or The Great Migration.", also one of the seven African wonders. It is an impressive spectacle in which more than two and a half million animals travel distances of more than a thousand kilometers. Some herds of animals are more than forty kilometers long. A giant procession consisting of wildebeest, gazelles, zebras and many other animals that, due to the drought, roam in search of fresh grass and water. Vorige week Heli-ski trip gedaan in Canada via The Wildlinger & Last Frontier. We'll be back!Geplaatst op Joeri SwennenTrustindex verifieert dat de oorspronkelijke bron van de recensie Google is.
