Lofoten Tourski & Splitboard Norway

Lofoten Tourski & Splitboard Norway is a challenging adventure upon which we freeriding overlooking the sea, in an improbably beautiful setting consisting of a mix of islands, white peaks rising from deep fjords, hidden bays and picturesque beaches. 68 degrees North, above the polar circle, in the Arctic North, we will work with you to provide a unforgettable sea to summit adventure. To complete the experience, we stay in rustic cabins in a quiet bay.

The Lofoten Islands have become a popular tour ski & splitboard destination. Most mountain peaks (except a few) have a average of 750 vertical meters. There are easy and difficult descents. This makes the Lofoten interesting to tour for different levels. And in addition, it is wonderfully beautiful!

After touring, there is time for sightseeing, to surf, fish, the sauna diving in or to bouldering. With any luck we will see the Northern Lights, an Elk or Bald Eagle.

Comfort 80%: You sleep in a cozy and super cozy cabin equipped with comfortable beds.

Intensity 80%: You participate in an active trip that requires a good level of fitness. This means that you will exercise at least 2x a week and generally be active.

Adventure 80%: From a certain base of operations, explore pristine areas and use nature as your playground.

Lofoten Tourski & Splitboard Norway

Day 1: Introduction

On the first day Lofoten Tourski & Splitboard Norway fly your go to Harstad/Narvik (EVE) where you will be met by our local guide. We then pick up the rental cars on after which we drive through to our residence in the Lofoten Islands near Svolvaer.

Day 2, 3, 4, 5 , 6 & 7: Ski touring/Splitboarding

For the next 6 days, you will enjoy to the fullest an well-filled tourski/splitboard program in the beautiful Lofoten Islands. Depending on weather conditions, snow conditions and the level of the group you will explore Torskmannen, Stortind, Rundfjellet, Store Kvittind, Pilan/Sautind and/or Varden.* The evenings you will spend in group in the cabin by the fjord.

Day 8: going home

This last day you will drive back to the airport and fly back home with a backpack full of memories of Lofoten tourski & splitboard Norway.

*The exact order of mountains we do depends on weather and snow conditions. When the weather is too bad to tour we provide an alternative program or do a small tour. So far we had 2 bad days out of the 36 days we organized so far in Norway.

Verblijven doe je in onze prachtige waterfront cabins in Skarungen. Dit zijn traditionele Rorbu-vissershutten die in 2020 gerenoveerd zijn, een authentiek verblijf direct aan zee. Met een prachtig uitzicht op Vågakallen en ruimte voor maximaal 5 gasten, bieden deze hutten een unieke combinatie van historische charme en modern comfort, perfect voor een onvergetelijke vakantie aan het water.

Je deelt de waterfront cabin (geschikt voor 5) met slechts 3 personen. Dat wil zeggen dat je een kamer deelt met 2 personen en dat 1 iemand ook de single room kan boeken. Lig je dus liever alleen op de kamer? Boek dan de single room in de cabin aan 25 euro extra per nacht.

De waterfront cabin is voorzien van:

• Badkamer met douche
• Slaapkamer 1 – stapelbed voor 3 personen
• Slaapkamer 2 – tweepersoonsbed van 160 cm
• Zeezicht
• Eigen balkon
• Keuken met koelkast, kookplaat en oven

Guides

Safety is our number one priority. Therefore, the guides we work with must meet our strict requirements. For this trip we work together with Irian Van Helfteren. Irian is a Austria's "Staatlich Geprüfter" ski and snowboard instructor and  "snowboardführer" who is thus allowed to guide off-piste and backcountry. Since 2003 he has lived in the Alps, guided in several countries around the world, and competed in downhill and big mountain competitions including the Freeride World Tour. In other words, he possesses a extremely good knowledge of the area and the required expertise around avalanche safety.

Safety Equipment

We ask each participant to yourself safety equipment such as a backpack with airbag, avalanche pager, shovel and probe to be provided for tour ski Norway. An airbag is not mandatory, but is strongly recommended. As is a helmet.

Insurance

Finally, we require each participant to provide a Proof of purchase of travel insurance specifically for off-piste skiing and snowboarding for the entire period of the trip. An example is short-term travel insurance with winter sports/special winter sports coverage at Allianz or KBF. Call and email your insurer in advance, explain what you will be doing and make sure you have a good understanding of what all is covered and what the exceptions are!  If desired, we will help you find the correct insurance.
