Surfari South Africa

Surfari South Africa is a exceptional surf trip where we go back to the essence of the surf. With maximum 6 participants and 2 local surf guides we cruise by 4×4 through South Africa. A off the beaten track surfari where we explore both surf, nature and wildlife among Jeffreys Bay and the Transkei Wild Coast. To give you an idea of where we are going to surfing:

• Wild Coast: "the land of rights", made famous by John John Florence in "View from a blue moon." Mdumbi and Lwandile are 2 more famous waves in this area.
• Sunshine Coast: the home port of some of the dear surfers at South Africa and from the spots: "Nahoon reef" in East London and "Supertubes" in Jeffreys Bay.

This surf vacation consists of a road trip In which we will continue the search for the best waves combine with enjoying the beautiful nature. Thus, we do a game drive, we mainly go camping, and combine the surf with swimming, fishing, hiking, discovering, cooking on a campfire, enjoy a "braai" and all this in a small group, away from the crowd.

For whom.

This is the perfect trip for those who love to surf, explore and enjoy. This trip is up to surfers who independent can paddle out and experience have with "green wave surfing". So for absolute beginners or people who have only surfed in foam, do not feel comfortable paddling out further ... this trip is not suitable. The minimum level requires you to be able to paddle out independently, to be able to control your comfortable feels at the lineup and independent waves can read and upright can are in a wave. If you are still struggling with those turns, if the pop-up is not yet completely right, then all this is not a problem, our guides can help you further refine that.

Surfari South Africa

Day 1 & 2: Flying to Port Elizabeth

You take a night flight to Port Elizabeth, where you will arrive the next day. Once you arrive, you will drive another hour to Jeffreys Bay, where it is time to take your guides at come to know, from at rest from the long flight and to possibly explore a bit of Jeffreys Bay. After that, Wild Coast Surfari South Africa can really begin!

Day 3: Jeffreys Bay & Addo Elephant National Park

You explore the surf between Cape St Francis and Jeffreys Bay, surf the best spots and then drive on to Addo Elephant National Park. Here you do a sunset gamedrive and overnight in safari tents in the park.

Day 4: Roadtrippping

Even with sunrise, it is worth exploring the game reserve. You start the day with a sunrise gamedrive. Hereafter drive you guys on to Mdumbi. A rather long drive that we interrupt with several fun stops. Along the way you will also surfing. Once you arrive, you will cook on an open fire and then sleep in rondavels or tents.

Day 5,6 & 7: Mdumbi

Mdumbi is not really a village but more of a community with a collection of small local Xhosa houses. There are rondavels, but you can also camp here. The site was once set up as a missionary site. What you will encounter here mainly on the beach are cows. They really walk everywhere here. These 3 days we are going to surf as much as possible and enjoy of the living outdoors. This means that you will also swimming, fishing, hiking to include "hole in wall" and many more will do. There are also several optional activities possible such as: a cultural tour in Tshani village, a boat trip to explore the Sardine Trek along the coast of South Africa to admire, kayaking on the Mdumbi River, a visit to the Mapuzi caves & cliff jumping. You will spend the night in tents and cook on an open fire.

Day 8, 9 & 10: Mpande

You pull even more the unspoilt nature in and camp in a place that does seem completely forgotten. Other than us, you won't see many other people here at all. Again, you will camp several nights to enjoy the desolation and the surf. With the help of your 4×4 do you also visit Ntonga and Mpande beach. Both you fish like spearfish techniques will determine what is on your plate. Finally, you will end this camping adventure at a local bar.

Day 11: Yellow Sands

Time to embark on the return journey. You will drive again toward Jeffreys Bay, but stop in Yellow Sands. Again, you will look for the best waves.

Day 12: Jeffreys Bay

And the road trip continues. Today you drive to the point where everything began, Jefreys Bay, in order to take a final look at the ocean explore further. We conclude with a farewell dinner looking back on an unforgettable Wild Coast Surfari South Africa.

Day 13: Return home

After breakfast, you will be dropped off at the airport. Depending on your flight, you will arrive home the next day with a backpack full of memories of this surf safari South Africa. A surf vacation you will never forget.

Day 14: Back home
