On this authentic adventure we take you to the breathtaking Svaneti Mountains in Georgia - a region known for its rugged beauty, snow conditions and authentic mountain villages. This is the destination for adventurers who love pure, active travel far away from the crowds. From the charming mountain village Mestia we explore the surrounding mountains, where you will enjoy challenging climbs and phenomenal descents in virgin snow. In addition, we will also spend a unique day and night in Ushguli, the highest inhabited village in Europe (UNESCO World Heritage Site), where we discover a world of serene white plains and spectacular mountain panoramas. After a day in the mountains, you always return to a cozy hotel Where you enjoy local Georgian dishes ( such as khachapuri and kubdari) and the hospitality of the Svane people.

The area

Mestia is the vibrant heart of the region of Svaneti in northwest Georgia. This mountain village, located at about 1,500 meters altitude is unique because of its spectacular nature, cultural richness and hospitality. Mestia is surrounded by mountain ranges which amount to 4,000 meters and offers endless possibilities for tour skiing and split boarding. You'll find good snow, and both rolling runs and challenging routes. In addition, Mestia is known for its iconic Svan towers, medieval stone structures that once served as defense and storage. The village exudes the authentic culture of the Svane people, and the locals welcome travelers with open arms.

CIA

Comfort 70%: you sleep in cozy and quality hotels equipped with the necessary comfort. You will also spend 1 night in a mountain hut.

Intensity 80%: You participate in an active trip that requires a good basic level of fitness. This means that you will exercise about 2x a week and generally be active.

Adventure 80%: From a certain base of operations, explore pristine areas and use nature as your playground.

Day 1 & 2: Fly to Georgia and drive to Mestia

On the first day fly we vanaf Amsterdam naar Tbilisi in Georgië, waar we ’s avonds zullen toekomen.  We overnachten in Tbilisi en de volgende dag rijden we door naar Mestia. We stoppen onderweg om te lunchen en nemen enkele korte pauzes tijdens deze lange ride of about 8h. So we will not arrive in Mestia until late at night. Once we arrive, everyone will have time to settle in. install after which a full safety briefing follows and we get a clear view of the rest of the week.

Dag 3 & 4: Mestia

De volgende 2 dagen genieten we ten volle van een well-stocked touring ski and splitboard program in the beautiful Svaneti Mountains. As a base of operations, we use a cosy traditional hotel in the center of Mestia. The tours we do depend on snow conditions, weather conditions and the level of the group. Either way there are lots of possibilities.

Dag 5 & 6: Ushguli

Retrieved from dag 5 we leave after breakfast our base of operations and we drive per 4×4 to Ushguli, het hoogst bewoonde dorp van Europa en Unesco werelderfgoed. Eens aangekomen maken we al een eerste tocht. Vervolgens slapen we in een mountain hut in Ushguli. Retrieved from day 6 we rise early and once again enjoy a well-rounded tourski and splitboard day in the beautiful mountains. In the late afternoon we drive back to Mestia.

Dag 7: Mestia

We enjoy a final tour ski and splitboard day in de prachtige omgeving van Mestia en rijden in de late namiddag terug naar Tbilisi waar we overnachten.

Dag 8: Tbilisi

After breakfast, we will be dropped off at the airport and fly we went home with a backpack full of memories from the tourski & splitboard Georgia trip.

Tourski & Splitboard Georgia

During this trip we will stay 2 nights in a hotel inTbilisi, 4 nights in a hotel in Mestia, and 1 night in a mountain hut at Ushguli. The trip is on the basis of double rooms. On request and with a surcharge, a single room is possible. In the mountain hut we sleep in a multi-person room, here also no single room is possible.

Guides

Safety is our number one priority. Therefore, the guides we work with have the necessary experience as a mountain guide, have the necessary local and international certifications, participate on a regular basis in safety courses and its seasoned freeriders and tour skiers.

Safety Equipment

We ask each participant to yourself safety equipment such as a backpack with airbag, avalanche pager, shovel and probe provide. An airbag is not mandatory, but is strongly recommended. As is a helmet.

Insurance

Finally, we require each participant to provide a Proof of purchase of travel insurance specifically for off-piste skiing and snowboarding for the entire period of the trip. An example is short-term travel insurance with winter sports/special winter sports coverage at Allianz or KBF. Call and email your insurer in advance, explain what you will be doing and make sure you have a good understanding of what all is covered and what the exceptions are! If desired, we will help you find the correct insurance.

Have you all tourski/splitboard experience, or did you already participate in our Level 1 Camps in Austria and now want to take it a step further? Then this trip perfect suitable for you! Important conditions to participate in this trip are:

• You have a good on-piste level and get off red and black runs smoothly
• You have experience in the backcountry
• You have tourski/splitboard experience
• You have good fitness and can hike up to 5 hours uphill in the snow.
• In terms of steepness, the off-piste terrain for this trip equals red and black runs. Steep off piste sections are therefore possible

The better your physical condition and control, the more you will enjoy the trip! The trip is suitable for both tour skiers and split boarders.
