Tourski & Splitboard Kyrgyzstan

Tourski & Splitboard Kyrgyzstan is a tour experience in the Eastern Tian Shan Mountains which, on the one hand, catapults you back to the Soviet Union and on the other hand will surprise with phenomenal snow and landscapes. Desolate, dilapidated and pristine, but oh so charming, welcoming and beautiful! This tour ski and splitboard trip takes you to the Kyrgyz snow paradise: Jyrgalan. An old mining village located on 2300m altitude in the eastern part of the country. In the Jyrgalan valley, a abnormal amount of dry Central Asian snow. Indeed, the giant Issyk Kul lake provides a microclimate with considerably more snowfall than elsewhere in Central Asia.

Op deze reis ga je 4 dagen tourskiën/splitboarden at Jyrgalan and 1 dag at Boz Uchuk. We slapen 2 nights in a yurt camp. In addition, we will also sample a half-day "horse-ski". We go up the mountain on horseback with our ski and snowboard gear on our backs, then at the top of the mountain we put on our gear and snow down the mountain! Finally, we will also go on a half a day of touring at Karakol, we take a dip in the hot springs, we are introduced to the Eagle Hunters and also explore Fairytale Canyon!

Tourski & Splitboard Kyrgyzstan is thus much More than an ordinary tourski / Splitboard trip. It is a great tour skiing / split boarding experience in a breathtaking scenery, where you will enjoy delicious meals, the local culture and way of life, and tremendous hospitality!

The Area

There is almost 10,000 acres of land available. This differs from mellow treeruns to flanks of more than 40 degrees. In the morning, we will decide with you where to go.

CIA

Comfort 70%: you will sleep in cozy and quality guesthouses and hotels equipped with the necessary comfort. You will also spend 2 nights in a yurt camp.

Intensity 80%: You participate in an active trip that requires a good basic level of fitness. This means that you will exercise about 2x a week and generally be active.

Adventure 80%: From a certain base of operations, explore pristine areas and use nature as your playground.

Day 1 & 2: Flying to Kyrgyzstan

On the first day fly we from Belgium or the Netherlands to Bishkek in Kyrgyzstan, where we did not see the next morning zullen toekomen.  Daar aangekomen, zijn er twee opties:

• Binnenlandse vlucht van ca. 40min naar Karakol en 1u30 rijden naar Jyrgalan (enkel op aanvraag vluchten heen en terug kosten ca. 100 euro pp)
• Standaard en indien er geen vluchten zijn of te slecht weer om te vliegen: lange rit van ca. 8u. We zullen ’s avonds laat pas in Jyrgalan toekomen.

Eens aangekomen krijgt iedereen de tijd om zich te install after which a full safety briefing follows and we get a clear view of the rest of the week.

Dag 3: Oostflanken

Vandaag focussen we ons op de Oostflanken in Jyrgalan zodat we kunnen acclimatiseren.

Dag 4 & 5: High camp

We maken een mooie tocht en eindigen in ons yurt high camp, waar we ook de nacht doorbrengen. Volledig off-grid in het midden van de bergen. De volgende dag touren we rond het kamp en slapen we opnieuw in de yurts.

Dag 6:Jyrgalan

We maken opnieuw een mooie tocht en eindigen in het dorp Jyrgalan waar we slapen in een gezellige guesthouse.

Dag 7: Boz Uchuk + Hot Springs

Retrieved from day 7 we leave after breakfast Our home base of Jyrgalan and we drive door Boz Uchuk. We maken opnieuw een mooie tocht en eindigen de dag met “verfrissende” hot springs. De nacht brengen we door in een hotel in Karakol.

Day 8: Horse-skiing

Today we will on horseback into the mountains. On a 2 to 3h trip, on horseback with our equipment on the back, we head for the mountain top. Once we arrive at the top of the mountain, we put on our ski equipment and snowen we go down. Then we go lunch and after lunch there will be time to elevator accessed to go tour skiing or split boarding.

Those who are not up for horse-skiing can tour from as early as morning elevator accessed or a morning rest.

Day 9: Fairytale Canyon & Eagle Hunters

Today we are driving back to Bishkek, but with some nice stops along the way. We will make a stop at Fairytale Canyon. A beautiful fairytale landscape where you will have time to walk around for a while. Then we drive on to the Eagle Hunters where we will have lunch and be immersed in centuries-old traditions and customs. A special meeting which will stay with you for a long time! Finally, we then drive on to Bishkek where we enjoy our last supper And looking back on an amazing tourski & splitboard trip in Kyrgyzstan!

Day 10: Home

After breakfast, we will be dropped off at the airport and fly we went home.

During this trip we will stay 3 nights in a guesthouse at Jyrgalan, 2 nachten in a yurt camp at Jyrgalan, 2 nights in a hotel at Karakol and 1 night in a hotel at Bishkek. The trip is on the basis of double rooms. A single room is possible upon request and with a surcharge.

In a yurt do you sleep with 8 people. No single room is possible here either.

Guides

Safety is our number one priority. Therefore, the guides we work with have the necessary experience as a mountain guide, have the necessary local and international certifications, participate on a regular basis in safety courses and its seasoned freeriders and tour skiers.

Safety Equipment

We ask each participant to yourself safety equipment such as a backpack with airbag, avalanche pager, shovel and probe provide. An airbag is not mandatory, but is strongly recommended. As is a helmet.

Insurance

Finally, we require each participant to provide a Proof of purchase of travel insurance specifically for off-piste skiing and snowboarding for the entire period of the trip. An example is short-term travel insurance with winter sports/special winter sports coverage at Allianz or KBF. Call and email your insurer in advance, explain what you will be doing and make sure you have a good understanding of what all is covered and what the exceptions are! If desired, we will help you find the correct insurance.

Tourski & Splitboard Kyrgyzstan

Have you all tourski/splitboard experience, or did you already participate in our Level 1 Camps in Austria and now want to take it a step further? Then this trip perfect suitable for you! Important conditions to participate in this trip are:

• You have a good on-piste level and get off red and black runs smoothly
• You have experience in the backcountry
• You have tourski/splitboard experience
• You have good fitness and can hike up to 5 hours uphill in the snow.
• In terms of steepness, the off-piste terrain for this trip equals red and black runs. Steep off piste sections are therefore possible

The better your physical condition and control, the more you will enjoy the trip! The trip is suitable for both tour skiers and split boarders.
